Back on the Slow TV journey, but this time the much shorter 1 hour journey from Bergen to Kirknes on a cruise ship up Norway’s coast. It’s much shorter... because it’s edited! Which is a shame as it loses all its charm. It’s understandable though seeing as this is a 6 day journey in real time. That full duration was broadcast live on Norwegian TV, Norwegians apparently having a lot patience and calm. This reworking though feels like a travel promo by the tourist board, with narration, schmaltzy music and lots of talking heads saying lovely things. Granted you see more of the country and it does look beautiful, but I missed the artistic simplicity of the Bergen to Oslo train. Do yourself a favour, watch that instead.
