Parasite - Black & White Edition (2020)

I reviewed this not long ago, you can read that here https://www.taketworeviews.com/post/parasite-2019. This is my second viewing, but my first of this new black and white version. I’m a bit skeptical. Not because I don’t love black and white, I do, but because this wasn’t shot that way. It’s been regraded in post. This of course can be done easily or painstakingly. I assume here it’s been done carefully, shot by shot. Still though, these scenes were lit for colour. Parasite is a great film though. Stripping the colour probably isn’t going to diminish that, but will it add anything? Well it may annoy the idiots who didn’t like reading subtitles... “What there’s no colour now either?”, but in short no, it does no harm. It’s simply different and gives another excuse to watch Bong Joon Ho’s masterpiece. It looks fantastic, but I prefer it in colour, the monochrome look works well for some scenes, not so much for others, but it still deserves its...
