Heaven Adores You (2014)

Updated: Jul 31, 2019

Not an especially ground breaking documentary, a bit by the numbers but still an excellent celebration of the genius that was Elliott Smith. There's enough here for fans going back to the early 90s, but it's also a good introduction to anyone who's not had the pleasure of hearing Elliot's music. Ultimately it all got too much and it's a real shame he wasn't able to find some balance, but watching this it hammers home how the music just got better and better the more he worked. It's always intriguing to wonder where artists that we lose could've gone, but at least with Elliott there's a wealth of stuff left behind to enjoy and this film is a fitting addition.
