An Inconvenient Sequel: Truth to Power (2017)

Updated: Jul 31, 2019

An Inconvenient Truth was ground breaking and compelling. A lot of people watched that film and took something positive from it, an understanding of the realities of global warming. A lot of that is to do with Al Gore, his passion and his talent for speaking about the climate crisis. It’s true this film is more of the same as it’s predecessor, but it’s still an important sequel. That it needed to be made, says a lot about where we are. There’s a bit too much about Gore himself, but politics is the main story here. Climate change denial. Suppression of green energy. Big industry and stupid politicians in cahoots. At a time when other countries are beginning to take notice, America is going backwards. It’s disheartening to watch the Paris Climate Agreement covered here, knowing now that Trump now intends to pull out. It’s things like this that make this film all the more vital.
